What an incredibly beautiful, passionate collection of music! Arturo Romay’s ALMA LATINA is an outstanding project, and an important one for the Smooth Jazz format. This Latin-themed world jazz project is in the tradition of the best and most memorable work from the likes of Juan Carlos Quintero, Jesse Cook and Marc Antoine. Mr. Romay brilliantly combines the very best elements of Flamenco and Latin jazz with the more contemporary vibe of Smooth Jazz… spiced throughout with bright, soulful horns, lush melodies and stunning performances. No wonder Pat Metheny has been quoted as saying “Arturo’s music comes from the heart and he plays with great passion.” The songs pulsate with that passion as well as with sensuality, lyricism, and authenticity.
